Food Pantry

We will be collecting non perishable food items for the George's Creek Food Pantry in February. Elaine delivered 12 packages with items in each package to the Frostburg Food Pantry. Good for us!

Have you ever been in a terrible storm - snow, fog, tornado, hurricane, rain? Remember the anxious feeling you had as you passed through the storm! Fear of the unknown grips us during the storm. Hope keeps us going even when we feel like giving up. When the storm is over, relief floods over us. We made it! Most people thank God for His guiding hand through these storms of nature.
What about the storms that we face in our personal lives? Just as scary; just as ominous. Financial problems, health issues, marital problems, job loss, lack of faith, depression, and many more. We naturally become frightened and worried. But Jesus told us in the Gospels that we shouldn't worry. If God watches out for the sparrows and clothes the lilies of the field, He will take care of us. What did the disciples do when they were in the midst of a terrible storm as they were crossing the
Sea of Galilee in their boat? It looked like they would capsize and be lost. The disciples called Jesus, who was sleeping in the stern, to help. Jesus got up and “rebuked the wind and waves saying, “Peace. Be still”. Immediately the storm ceased.
When we face these personal storms, we can call on Jesus to help us. He will help, and our prayers will be answered; maybe not in the way we wanted, but in God's plan. The storm will cease because we will be given the strength to get through it when we place our fears and burdens at the feet of Jesus. Relief floods our soul. “Peace. Be still.” He is there.
Mark
4:35:40

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense. I shall not be moved.
